The Leeds Town Hall

In the mid, 19th century, Leeds was a rapidly expanding industrial town. To reflect this growing wealth and importance, it was proposed that it should have a ‘municipal palace’ that would inspire its citizens and impress other towns and cities with a beautiful civic building more magnificent than any in Europe.
