It seems Disney’s D23 Expo has been a plethora of new Star Wars information, the lucky attendees got their hands on a new promotional/teaser poster for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The poster was created by the renowned ‘Film Poster’ artist Drew Struzan, whose famous style has graced posters for many of the other films in the Star Wars saga as well as the Indiana Jones films. While Struzan created this poster, it is not the primary poster he’ll make for the film.
While it’s great to see this new poster, also gives us a big plot reveal…or is it?. John Boyega’s character, Finn is seen wielding Luke Skywalker’s old blue lightsaber, will he be a Jedi ?—There have been many teases of his connection to this weapon on the Forum’s, but now we get to see a full-fledged pose, and he certainly looks like a force to be reckoned with. Are we seeing the official confirmation that the character will be using the weapon at some point during the film (and maybe even be a Jedi?, or is this an intentional plot leak to throw us off guard, we could be just seeing him in something like the Han Solo ‘esque’ Tauntaun scene?

I have noticed a general resistance to the idea of Finn being a Jedi. I wonder why that is? When it come to Rey it is a different story, they even try to turn her staff into some kind of lightsaber. I just find this very interesting. What are your thoughts on this?
I’ve got no resistance either way, I’m sure we are going to get a ‘No, I am your Father’ surprise moment in the film, but the thought of a Stormtrooper becoming a Jedi doesn’t seem to fit for me, that’s why I feel it’s a red herring, also another thing about the poster is how Han Solo is in the bottom left corner of the poster just feels oddly shoe-horned in and that dark stroke around his outline doesn’t help make it any better.
I suspect the trooper uniform is more the red herring, not unlike Luke & Han in A New Hope. Can’t wait to find out!!
Oh yes, what if he wasn’t a trooper in the first place…what a classic red herring that would be, like the scene where Rey gives Finn his jacket back as if it was always his…Ooh I like the sound of that
First of all….jedi’s are weak as hell. Darths kill them by the thousands. They are just targets for the dark side. The real earth shakers are heros without a title. I pray finn doesnt lower himself to a jedi to later have to exile hisself in future films like luke and yoda did.
