Artist Darren ‘Daz’ Tibbles has created these gorgeous vintage Star Wars Covers, they were created for a Star Wars art exhibition in Melbourne, Australia. They are very stylized pieces of art that have a classic comic worn around the edges feel.
If I was asked what would be my dream photography assignment/project, well what could be more serene than travelling to Tunisia and taking astrophotography over Luke Skywalker’s homestead from the original A New Hope set. Well it seems hardcore Star Wars fan and photojournalist Gary He got that exact assignment for Wired Magazine. He was tasked with photographing a total six film set locations.
This one is truly a ‘bucket list’ shot for any ardent Star Wars fan with a passion for astronomy and photography…especially me!
A beautifully composed ‘pre-sunset’ shot of The Lars homestead exterior dubbed ‘The Igloo’ on the El-Jerid salt flats in Tunisia
Another stunning photography by Gary He, all you have to do with this one is pipe up the John Williams Binary Sunset theme and just imagine two suns, and it’s almost like you’re there.
Empire Magazine have just revealed their six Star Wars: The Force Awakens ‘Special Edition’ covers which look quite fantastic, but their saying they are even better in the flesh, as they are making use of dazzling lenticular 3D technology.
Finn, played by John Boyega, is the Stormtrooper-turned-rebel, and appears on the cover wielding Luke Skywalkers blue lightsaber. JB described his first lightsaber experience: “I held it in my hand and I just felt, you know, the clouds open up and the white doves come flying down”.
Interesting quote from Adam Driver about Kylo Ren “I never thought of the character as an evil person”… I wonder how he came to that conclusion?
Captain Phasma and Poe Dameron
Rey and her Dad? or Uncle?
The subscriber exclusive cover with C-3PO and R2-D2
But if that wasn’t enough, there is also an extremely Limited Edition special issue, for us dedicated Star Wars fans. Partnering up with Hasbro and Sainsburys, they’ve included an official action figure of Kylo Ren with certain Force Awakens issues. Only 4,500 copies of this special issue will be printed, making it an instant collector’s item.
UPDATE : Empire Exclusive Images
Empire also got this Hi Res exclusive image of Gwendoline Christie’s ‘Chrometrooper’, Captain Phasma in action
Below is another Hi-Res Empire exclusive of hotshot Resistance X-wing pilot, Dameron who is sent on a special mission by “a certain princess”, crossing paths with John Boyega’s Finn before their “fates are forever intertwined”.
Part 1 | The Starkiller Base Plans
“The Starkiller Base plans are not on the main computer”
“Where are those transmissions you intercepted? What have you done with those plans?”

These are the AutoCad/Revit construction blueprints for the interior of the Starkiller Base, home of the First Order’s power. (It was known on-set and in production designs by the codename “Evil Castle.”) In film the base is a monstrously huge structure, full of twisting hallways, long corridors, and a central control room. But in real life, the mostly wood-and-plastic set occupied a single soundstage at Pinewood Studios in London—and using movie magic, they turned it into the new Death Star.
The all-purpose set can be reconfigured in a modular style to create a variety of specific arrangements, said Darren Gilford, a production designer. Continue reading The Force Awakens Blueprints
