The End of the Skywalker Saga

We’ve waited long enough, some of us over 40 years for the Skywalker saga to finally come to conclusion, and it finally returns to theatres this Christmas with the finale…Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which will finally end the set of three trilogies.

We have a, how should I say ‘passionate’ fanbase, and some didn’t take too kindly to The Last Jedi, and that seemed to have had an impact on Solo: A Star Wars Story, which was a solid movie, and deserved a lot better than the audience figures it received. But with this in mind, will they actually show up at theatres to find out how this Skywalker finally finale finishes?

I think they will for the finale, it’s had great marketing and with screenwriter, Chris Terrio, the Oscar-winning writer and director for Argo onboard to help JJ. Abrams complete the sequel trilogy, I think the odds are quite favourable for a record-breaking opening weekend

So how much do you think Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker will gross domestically in the US. Since Disney acquired Lucasfilm and the beloved Star Wars universe, they’ve done quite a lot with this franchise. Most notably, the first film they produced did massively well at the box office.

That said — 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens — ended up raking in $936,662,225 domestically. Two years later, its follow up, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, saw a major dip in earnings, pulling in only $620,181,382. That world of a difference is exactly why this year’s release leaves so many questions.

So to bet how well this film will do is a tough call, but it’s easy to imagine that Skywalker will do better than Jedi, but not performing as well as Awakens… Although, as Han would say… “Never Tell Me The Odds” …We will soon see.
