This Christmas time we’ll be heading back to a galaxy far, far away, and as usual Empire Magazine could hardly let this new Star Wars movie slip past without letting it grace their front cover. So here it is: the first of their Rogue One ‘A Star Wars Story’ covers, in all its rebellious glory (first revealed exclusively by the Star WarsUK Twitter feed).

Super Hi-Res Version of the Rogue One Empire Magazine Cover below…

The cover includes Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso, Diego Luna’s Captain Cassian Andor, Riz Ahmed’s Bodhi Rook, Donnie Yen’s Chirrut Imwe, Jiang Wen’s Baze Malbus, and Alan Tudyk’s droid character K-2SO.

And although there’s not anything particularly exciting about this specific image, hopefully the two more covers the magazine will show us more, they do promise “unprecedented access to the war film transforming the Star Wars universe,” …fingers crossed

The second alternative cover is unleashed featuring the fearsome Director Orson Krennic, played by Ben Mendelsohn. The cape-loving Krennic is flanked by a couple of Death Troopers, the elite all-black stormtroopers who act as personal bodyguards to the Galactic Empire’s high command. These guys aren’t to be trifled with.

The third cover variant for Empire Magazine’s massive Rogue One ‘A Star Wars Story” has landed, and it’s a limited edition cover for subscribers which features the new droid K-2SO, also known as “Kaytoo”. The military enforcer droid is played by Alan Tudyk via performance capture, and it was Tudyk who first revealed the cover, on Twitter.

Empire Magazine: The Force Awakens Special Edition Covers

Empire Magazine have just revealed their six Star Wars: The Force Awakens ‘Special Edition’ covers which look quite fantastic, but their saying they are even better in the flesh, as they are making use of dazzling lenticular 3D technology.

Finn, played by John Boyega, is the Stormtrooper-turned-rebel, and appears on the cover wielding Luke Skywalkers blue lightsaber. JB described his first lightsaber experience: “I held it in my hand and I just felt, you know, the clouds open up and the white doves come flying down”.

Interesting quote from Adam Driver about Kylo Ren  “I never thought of the character as an evil person”… I wonder how he came to that conclusion?

But if that wasn’t enough, there is also an extremely Limited Edition special issue, for us dedicated Star Wars fans. Partnering up with Hasbro and Sainsburys, they’ve included an official action figure of Kylo Ren with certain Force Awakens issues. Only 4,500 copies of this special issue will be printed, making it an instant collector’s item.

UPDATE : Empire Exclusive Images

Empire also got this Hi Res exclusive image of Gwendoline Christie’s ‘Chrometrooper’, Captain Phasma in action

Below is another Hi-Res Empire exclusive of hotshot Resistance X-wing pilot, Dameron who is sent on a special mission by “a certain princess”, crossing paths with John Boyega’s Finn before their “fates are forever intertwined”.

The new Empire Magazine Star Wars-themed cover have landed, but are full of errors…see below

The first cover features the three First Order baddies from the movie, including Gwendoline Christie’s Captain Phasma, Domnhall Gleeson’s General Hux, and Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren, who’s wielding that crossguard lightsaber…although I’m not sure about the Stormtroopers, they look a lot like the ones from the Original Trilogy…Photoshop error No:1?

The alternative Empire Magazine Star Wars-themed cover features Resistance trio, including John Boyega‘s Finn, Daisy Ridley’s Ray, and Oscar Isaac‘s Poe Dameron, with BB-8 and the Millennium Falcon on the background, which looks like some camouflage covers blowing off it, but it does have the old radar dish still on it which got destroyed in The Return of the Jedi …Photoshop error No:2?
