Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Rise of the Resistance Poster

Disney has just announced that the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction will be opening in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on December 5th, 2019. The attraction is also set to open at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland on January 17th, 2020, delayed from the previously announced “later this year” opening date.

Alongside this, they have released a previously seen Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Rise of the Resistance Poster, but who is the artist…could it be Paul Shipper or even Jason Palmer, both are great favourites of Disney and Lucasfilm for this hand-drawn style of the poster.

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge – Oga’s Cantina Coasters

Barely open and a popular souvenir at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge within the Disneyland Resort is completely free and proof you’ve visited one of the land’s most trendy hot spots. Guests who visit Black Spire Outpost on remote planet Batuu and stop at Oga’s Cantina local watering hole for a drink can take home collectable coasters featuring several Star Wars design.

These coasters have spawned a growing underground market in unauthorized park “collectables.” Oga’s Cantina drinks coasters have a going price from $10 to $50.

Which means there are a large number of ‘high quality’ reference images, so using them, I decided to recreate them in ‘super high-resolution’

We get our first close-up look at the Millennium Falcon. This Behind-the-scenes look at development on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was via the Disney Parks Facebook page! You’ll be to take the controls of the fastest ship of the galaxy in Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, one of two signature attractions coming to this all-new land at Disneyland (summer 2019) and Walt Disney World (fall 2019)

BATUU – Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Planet Revealed

Guests on Star Tours – The Adventures Continue boarded Starspeeders at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland park to discover a thrilling new journey to the farthest reaches of space and found themselves landing unexpectedly on a planet in the outer rim of the Star Wars Galaxy – a planet known to C-3PO, and now to us, as Batuu.

This remote outpost on the galaxy’s edge was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes, but its prominence was bypassed by the rise of hyperspace travel. Now home to those who prefer to stay out of the mainstream, it has become a thriving port for smugglers, rogue traders and adventurers traveling between the frontier and uncharted space. It’s also a convenient safe haven for those intent on avoiding the expanding reach of the First Order. While Batuu may be new to us, it is clearly already familiar to many characters from the Star Wars saga as a stepping off point for epic adventures.

As the Creative Executive on these projects working alongside so many talented Imagineers and Lucasfilm partners, I look forward to sharing more updates from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge as we further explore the stories and adventures you’ll be invited to discover when our new lands open in 2019.
