The gorgeous awesome new poster for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has a symbol not so secretly hidden in it. The awesome design shows Rey holding a lightsaber above her head, with the beam of her saber dividing Luke Skywalker on one side and Kylo Ren on the other. But beyond the obvious implications that can be taken from that image, the poster includes a subtle nod back to the film’s title with symbolism to the Jedi Order.
The poster, which can be seen in full HD below, is also a callback to some of the art used for the original trilogy. In one of the more memorable posters for Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope, Luke can be seen standing in the middle, wielding his lightsaber in a very King Arthur-like stance. It’s the same kind of pose that Johnson and the design team at Lucasfilm are trying to mirror with Rey. The stark image of a lightsaber shooting up into the sky also bears a certain resemblance to the original teaser poster for Return of the Jedi.
