Twinkle

This week, The WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge wanted us to share our photos of twinkling light, and want a great word ‘Twinkle‘ is for a mid December photo challenge. But they did say don’t go for the cliché Christmas shots, but instead how the light can create that twinkle, even in nighttime photography, and capture the sparkle of stars…which I did.

As they said in the brief…

“Where there is light, there will be a twinkle.”

Twinkling lights on the shopping centre roof and twinkling ice on a cold morning car.

Heavenly twinkles on an Easter Sunday in the Church of St James in Boroughbridge, Yorkshire

Twinkling Moon Star on our garden Christmas Tree, which was all about the timing.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Beyond

Wordpress Weekly Photo Challenge BeyondThis weeks WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge asked us if we had a photo which invites the viewer to look beyond? Are there hidden depths in the background?  Is there a reason why the viewer should look beyond? and if so, tell you!

The above image was taken last Monday on a lunchtime walk away from the studio, but! it’s what laid beyond this wintery inviting lane that was a sad sight to see, especially after the weekend of cold sleet and snow. What I found was this sad, wet, cold and lonely fellow (below) in the field, although I did took a few pictures, he was especially glad to see me, as his supply of hay had run out and the only bits left where on my side of the fence, so I duly fed him all I could find…which I think he was quite glad of.

Just after I took a pic of these horses, the owner turned up in a 4×4 with a few bales of warm hay… a happy end of sorts.

My 2012 in Pictures

I’ve tried to pick my best pictures I’ve taken in 2012 and have those pictures hopefully tell you a visual story about my first ‘full’ year on MilnersBlog, every image has a caption and relates to a blog post I’ve done in 2012.

This post is part of the brilliant WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge which has introduced me to so many brilliant bloggers and like-minded photographers.
Happy New Year to you all
Carl 🙂

Weekly Photo Challenge: Changing Seasons

Wordpress Weekly Photo Change Changing Seasons ©Carl Milner MilnersBlog 06I’d originally planned on doing 4 individual galleries using the brilliant new WordPress Media Manager for this week’s Photo Challenge to represent the changing seasons of winter, spring summer & autumn showing all floras in my own garden, as I’ve taken quite a few images over the last 12 months…so the choice was endless. Sorry to say, but, this idea was quickly dropped as the drive to work yesterday offered me a true fragment in time to capture the beauty of a changing season in my home County of Yorkshire with a stunning winter sunrise over a freshly ploughed farmer’s field and a flock of birds preparing for migration on what was a very chilly and frosty December morning.
