Yesterday I had another one of those ‘camera’ detours on my way to work, which I thank god we have Flex-Time, plus I also needed to work my lunch to get a deadline out, but it was all worth it…as it enabled me to capture what was a glorious golden sunrise over the grounds of Temple Newsam, which had some of the most amazing peachy hues on the trees.

The winter frost and freezing fog proved an opportunity too good to miss yesterday, so armed with ‘trusty the camera’ it provided me with a brief moment in time capture some images which are so fitting for this weeksWeekly Photo Challenge theme of Delicate. I witnessed beautiful intricate spiders webs in the frost and winter grasses in suspended animation, it was a perfect lunchtime walk.

I’d originally planned on doing 4 individual galleries using the brilliant new WordPress Media Manager for this week’s Photo Challenge to represent the changing seasons of winter, spring summer & autumn showing all floras in my own garden, as I’ve taken quite a few images over the last 12 months…so the choice was endless. Sorry to say, but, this idea was quickly dropped as the drive to work yesterday offered me a true fragment in time to capture the beauty of a changing season in my home County of Yorkshire with a stunning winter sunrise over a freshly ploughed farmer’s field and a flock of birds preparing for migration on what was a very chilly and frosty December morning.

The Morning Flock
The garden looked quite magical on Sunday morning with the early morning frost, something I didn’t want it to end for all the photo opportunities…hence the title. But it can also mean so many other things, like the act of bidding farewell which has come to mean “be cool,” but more commonly as a cautionary word to stay alert and be on one’s toes, brilliantly used in one of my favourite films Aliens by Corporal Hicks (Michael Biehn)
“Hey! I know we’re all in strung out shape but stay frosty and alert. We can’t afford to let one of those bastards in here.” Continue reading Stay Frosty
