Weekly Photo Challenge: Happy

What makes you Happy?

What a great theme this weeks WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge is, I was originally going to show a variety of pics including some of my lovely Wife and my gorgeous Girls that make me so happy, but I decided to submit an individual subject…MY DOG …this is not to say I love the dog more than my wife or girls 🙂

      1. Congrats on being Freshly Pressed! How fun!

BTW – I never responded to your note, but that single theme is a great idea. I don’t know why, but that one hadn’t occurred to me to try.

  1. Not sure if this really was a “challenge” for you! 🙂 She is very photogenic and her personality shows through tremendously. Great work.. I’m sure your wife and children agree.

  2. Gorgeous! I really enjoyed these pictures! You have a beautiful dog, love the colors, the head and eyes 🙂 I’m sure it gives you happy moments every day!

      1. Thanks for the tip. I’ve enabled it in settings, but then how do I adjust the size of the rectangle?

  3. beautiful photographs…U’ve managed some excellent photgraphy..
the photo with ur dog and a cat totally cracked me up, its very interesting to see them together 🙂

      1. and the photograph totally captures that…something royal about the way the cat’s sitting beside the dog 🙂

  4. Aww! I absolutely love those photos and all the captions are so cute! I have tried to do similar with my dog, but she just won’t sit still. I need to have my camera on me at all times! haha! What kind of dog is he/she?

    1. Thanks Maddie, she’s not bothered about the camera, I think she’s got used to it over time as I’ve nearly always got it to hand.

      She’s a happy Jack Russell 🙂

  5. Fantastic photos – what a cute Jack Russell! May I ask how do you format it into a collage like that? – I always struggle a bit and find moving photos around in wordpress a bit clunky. But that could be just my poor computer skills…

    1. Hi Jura
Thanks for the lovely comments 🙂

You need to goto the Dashboard, select the Settings tab at the bottom, then Media, there you’ll find a new button called Tiled Galleries, (Display all your gallery pictures in a cool mosaic.) select this and any new galleries will look like mine.

Add descriptions to the images, as this acts as the text highlighter for the image roll-overs.

You can change them to either circles, squares or rectangles.

      1. Forgot to mention, change them to Squares, Circles or Rectangles, you need to change the Gallery shortcode in the Visual/TEXT window from

        [gallery to either
        [gallery:type=rectangle]
        [gallery:type=circle]
        [gallery:type=square]

by default I think it squares

Good luck, let us know how you get on 🙂

    1. Thank you so much, I have to say she really ‘hates’ the postman and goes wild when he arrives, but apart from him she’s so gentle and loving to everyone who comes to the house

    1. Thanks, I was truly overjoyed at getting Pressed, the WordPress team was so good prior to it getting published, telling what to expect and telling me about the new ‘Freshly Pressed’ widget I’d get

  6. I’m most definitely a dog person. I mean, the way they look at you when you come home each day is like they haven’t seen you for years. Nobody could ever get so attached to one like dogs can.

  7. Ah…happiness every day! Such unconditional love, such unrestrained joy, such loyalty! Thanks for sharing! I especially liked the last nose picture, very endearing!

  8. You’ve got some amazing pictures here. I believe that they actually portrait happiness itself, which is 1.quite hard to achieve and 2. harder even when you’re working with animals.
    Your dog is beautiful.
You are a very talented person. I am glad i’ve bumped into your blog.

  9. sorry Carl, I just saw your reply to my above comment and you made me laugh, thanks!!!!
My name is Carina and you posted this actually on my birthday. But once again, your dog is sooo lovely, I have a fav. photo amongst them!

  10. So you captured my sentiments exactly. I felt badly that I didn’t include my husband in my Thankful post. That is not to say that I’m not extremely thankful for him. Sometimes you just gotta’ go with the loyal, 4-legged companion!! Besides, I had Daisy before I knew my husband 🙂
